    Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is a metallopeptidase abundantly present in humans in the epithelia of the lung and small intestine. ACE2 counters the activity of the homologous ACE by decreasing the amount of angiotensin-II and increasing Ang(1-7), thus making it a promising therapeutic target for cardiovascular diseases. Besides, human ACE2 also acts as the primary entry point into cells for some coronaviruses such as SARS-CoV-2. The interaction between the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and human ACE2 (hACE2) on the cell surface leads to endocytosis and translocation of the virus-hACE2 complex into an endosome located within the cell, which eventually causes SARS-CoV-2 infection.
    The Recombinant human Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is obtained by the expression of a DNA gene sequence with a human Fc tag at the C-terminus, in mammalian cells expression system. The target DNA sequence encodes the region of 18-740aa of the ACE2 protein. This ACE2 recombinant protein predicts a molecular weight of 111.1 kDa. The purity of this protein is up to 85% as measured by SDS-PAGE. And its endotoxin level is less than 1.0 EU/ug as determined by the LAL method. This human ACE2 has been validated with higher biological activity. In the functional ELISA, it was measured with high reactivity towards SARS-CoV-2-S and SARS-CoV-2-S1-RBD, respectively. Also, this protein can be applied in Antigen-Presenting and LSPR (localized surface plasmon resonance) assay.
